MIDWEEK MUSINGS – Dec 21, 2021- John Knox
Christmas Eve is so close! And I discovered this past Sunday that John Knox does candles in a BIG way. Thanks so much to the “crew” who stayed after worship to set it all up. I hope you have spread the word about the service here at John Knox, have invited those who might like to be with us for this special evening. Remember our special concert at 5:00pm, followed by the service about 5:30pm. I’m encouraging everyone to be in the sanctuary in time for the music at 5pm. I am so grateful for these excellent musicians who are sharing their talent with us and starting our service with celebration.
I also want to say “thank you” to the handbells who played for us this past Sunday. It amazes me that this small group can provide such lovely music. And thanks to all of you who provided poinsettias. Remember you can pick yours up following the Christmas Eve service, or after worship on Dec 26.
In case you were wondering, we will have our regular service on Dec 26. We will begin with a “carol sing,” an opportunity to sing again those beloved carols before we put them away for another year. Although Jan 2 we will celebrate Epiphany, so you may hear “We Three Kings.” Also, on Dec 26 Angie Parr will treat us to a handbell solo. I hope you will take the time to thank all these musicians whose talents enrich our Christmas season – maybe even take time to write them a note 😊
Please pay attention to the current news about the virus. Omicron is throwing a monkey wrench into our hopes of being beyond the pandemic by now. If you are not yet vaccinated, please begin the process. If you are, make sure you get the booster. Continue to stay masked and distanced; be part of protecting and loving your neighbor!
And in these final few days before Christmas, I’ll wish you and those you love all the blessings of the season – and see you in church!
Grace and peace, Pastor Carol
